Nearly there! – Week 26 of Maratraining
I can’t believe it! The final full week of training is over. My final long run is done. This time next week I will be a marathoner. This week was a lazy week of holidays. I’m “carb loading” which is just my fancy pants excuse for eating whatever I feel like. I got my yearly fix of deep fried goodness at the Taste of Tasmania mushroom stall and helped my dad drink half a bottle of wine….ooops! It is...
Surprising Myself – week 25 of Maratraining
This week marks the commencement of tapering for the Cadbury Marathon. I’m decreasing from 5 runs a week to 4 and also decreasing the kilometers run. I did end up running a few “extra” kms for the hell of it (well maybe because I just didn’t read my training schedule right and forgot to turn back when I was supposed to…ooops!) I also wrapped up my corporate life for the year. It was a great feeling...
Gettin’ it done – Week 24 of Maratraining
These final weeks of training seem to be racing by! I honestly don’t know where the week went. This week saw the final easy 60’s and from next week I’m dropping down to 4 days a week of running…how am I going to cope? Corporate life has been good. It was a week of celebration and last minute flurries of activity as most of my team is off on Christmas break as of Friday. I’m there Monday, Tuesday and...
Distance PB Smashed! – Week 23 of Maratraining

It was nice to get back there regularly and see some familiar faces. I ended the week on a high by taking out the longest run of the program 32km! Here’s how the week ran out: Monday 7/12/15 After yesterday’s lovely...
Battling the Demons – Week 22 of Maratraining
It was a hard week at the cheesemine and that affected me both mentally and physically. It was a hard week with highs and lows. Here is how it went down. Monday 30/11/15 After my distance PB the day before, I fully expected a repeat of last week’s not so easy 60. I was pleasantly surprised by the spring in my step as I set out early for my run. I ran my city loop and although I had a few niggly aches and pains I warmed up...
