Moanin’ to MONA – Week 21 of Maratraining
I’m at the pointy end of my training. It’s getting tough. The long runs are getting very long and this week I racked up just over 61km of training. Wow! Corporate life is still busy and emotionally draining. Things will start settling down within the next couple of weeks (hopefully). True to my word I did every single km of my training program. I had moments of moaning and some of pure enjoyment. Here’s how...
New Kit, New PB – Week 20 of Maratraining
I can’t believe it is week 20 already! The date of the Cadbury Marathon is looming closer and I’m at the pointy end of my training. Point to Pinnacle was only last week, yet it seems like it was ages ago. Corporate life has been crazy busy and emotionally draining. The cheesemine is going through a restructure which means heaps of change and the inevitability of people leaving because of the changes. Change is...
P2P – Week 19 of Maratraining
Well folks, 19 weeks in! The big race is getting close (55 days away) and I’m starting to get a touch of the nerves and the niggles of doubt. My mantra right now is “stick to the plan, you’re doing the kms – you’ve got this!”. It’s working for now…. This week was all about the carb-loading and maintaining my training in the lead up to Sunday’s Point to Pinnacle. I do love my...
Back on Track – Week 18 of Maratraining
Well my health is finally on the up and I’ve managed to run more kms this week than on any other week of my marathon training program. I’ve still got the vestiges of a cough, the occasional sore throat and blocked ears but my energy is back and I ran 56.4km. Corporate life has been busy and is going to get even more challenging in the weeks ahead. Always does in the lead up to Christmas with a final frenzied flurry of...
Plagued – Week 17 of Maratraining
This week was rough. I am still fighting this nasty virus nearly 2 weeks on. While I may not sound like my chain smoking alter-ego Beryl anymore, I feel weak and drained of energy. Everytime I think I feel better the virus strikes back and wreaks havoc. I tried to keep up with all my training and for the most part I did well. The running helps “loosen” things up and does wonders for my mood which has been a bit bad. I...
