Back to the beginning – Week 4 of maratraining
I don’t know where this week has gone! Work kept me extremely busy (payback for taking a couple of days off) and training just kind of happened. I think I’m getting into the groove of things and really enjoying stretching my legs on the longer runs. I had a my first “injury” this week (more about that later) and finished the week running the race that started it all – the Hobart Budget Fun Run....
On Tour – Week 3 of Maratraining
This week I took the training on the road. Being away for work or play is no excuse to stop training. I did have to make some adjustments to the schedule to fit it all in but I made it happen. I had a few false starts but in the end it was a great week of running and pushing the limits. Here are the highlights of my 3 city running tour. Monday – 20/07/15 False start. Early flight to Sydney for work meant that I...
G15 – Week 2 of Maratraining
This week has gone by insanely quick. I wish I could say the same about my running times but hell you’ve got to start somewhere, don’t you? Week 2 of training went well and culminated in the Glenorchy Fun Run this morning. I was feeling a bit better on the corporate front and the week wasn’t as emotionally taxing as last week. I didn’t have to work crazy hours and I even won a radio trivia competition on the...
Freezing Cold to Torrential Rain – Week 1 of Marathon Training
It has been a week of extremes for me both in running and corporate life. Corporately speaking, it was an emotionally challenging week of saying goodbye to someone very loved in the team. I had to juggle my emotions while trying to stay on top of tasks. I worked my longest day ever, physically leaving work at 8PM on Wednesday night and not “clocking off” until after midnight. Throw in an exec visit, Portuguese tarts plus a...
The Golden Ticket for an Epic Run
A few months ago I won the lottery! The lottery for a place in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. I’ve been wanting to run a marathon for quite some time yet the prospect seemed so daunting that I never quite mustered up the courage to commit. Well that has changed. I’ve paid my money, I’m registered, I’m doing this. I’m not actually running it until October 2016 but for...
