Cats of Istanbul

I am a crazy cat lady.  OK.  There I’ve said it.  I used to be a dog lady but since my beloved Rex passed away shortly followed by my dear Scooter cat my heart has been stolen by Leroy.  I blame his awesomeness for turning me into the cat obsessed woman I am today.

There is no break from being a crazy cat lady, even on holiday.

Istanbul has a cat problem.  Feral cats roam the streets and and add an air of mystery as they slumber amongst ancient ruins.   For me they added to my experience of the city.  I drove John crazy wanting to photograph each one for  my upcoming coffee table book called “The Cats of Istanbul”.

Most of the felines I met looked well fed and quite self-assured.  I noticed that people leave food out for them which is great.

Here is a highlight reel of my favourite cats of Istanbul.  I especially loved the regal tan and white cat of the archeological museum and the sleepy grey cat of the Hagia Irini.
